We're coming to the end of day six out here on the road, which marks the end of event number TWO.
After a morning of instant oatmeal and Bugs Bunny in our hotel room - "I feel like a child," said Natalie - we headed to another Co-op grocery store. I know it ain't no 44 degrees here, but today was a HOT one! Inside our truck, we have a "reefer," a.k.a massive refridgerator...a.k.a, a makeshift air conditioning system. Honestly, one of the best parts of the day was being the one chosen to climb into the reefer and get more product for the BBQ.
Overall, the event looked a lot like yesterday's. Lots of wraps beating our chicken dogs on the popularity scale, lots of customers asking us about our cross-country adventure, and a lot of paper chicken hat folding (which is truly right up there alongside the art of origami.)
We also had something going on today that Bob Barker himself would have loved to be a part of.
This year, the Showtruck has its very own Plinko board!
If you haven't had the pleasure of flicking on the TV on a sick day from school or work and finding a jolly, white-haired man holding a retro microphone telling you "The Price is Right," Plinko is a simple, yet wildly entertaining and rather addicting game of chance.
Players simply drop a coin into any slot of their choosing on the top of the board, then watch in excitement as their chip plinks down the board into a slot at the bottom to win some cool prizes.
It's free, it's fab, and kids - and as we've discovered, adults alike - love it! For our grocery store events, the prizes that players can take home include chicken tattoos, chicken hats, Maple Lodge pens, pencils and also Maple Lodge colouring books.
But stay tuned, because next week when we do some head office events, there's gonna be even more MLF prizes featured on the board. Like yoga kits! And cooler bags! And panini presses!!
...which could be YOURS if the price is right.
