Description

The Maple Lodge Farms Special Event Team is taking a little road trip this summer...make that a BIG road trip...about 7,000 kilometres wide of a road trip to be exact. From July 4 to August 3 2010, Grant, Kim, Cassandra, Natalie, Mike and Josh - 6 wicked young people from the GTA - will be hitting all the major cities across Canada, hosting free BBQs at grocery stores and head offices that Maple Lodge is in partnerships with. Traveling in a 70 foot tractor trailer from hotel to hotel, they're on a mission to get the nation hooked on chicken. So stop by this blog daily to see where they are, what they're up to, and maybe YOU will start craving an Ultimate Chicken Dog too.

What to do on a day off in Saskatoon: Draft 2

1. Set up camp in a Wal-Mart aisle

Shortly after waking up this morning, Grant and I took a trip to Wal-Mart in search of a lawn chair. It was a gorgeously sunny day today and Grant wanted to work on his tan in style. It came down to a choice between a blue chair with soccer balls on it, and a red one featuring the Canadian flag. So, naturally, we set up both right there in the aisle and tested them out...and ended up sitting there for a good 20 minutes, people watching and drinking gatorade that we hadn't bought yet.

2. Discover a funky clothing boutique

While Grant was in Subway getting lunch, I decided to check out a store called "Frakas" in the same plaza. It turned out to be a boutique shop filled with shoes, hats, scarves, rings, dresses and many, many sparkly things. Really, it should be called "Chez Kimberly" because EVERYTHING in there I wanted to own. Even the music was perfection. The only thing I didn't like about this store was the fact that it took $56.32 from my bank account. Hm.

3. Take a venture downtown for some dinner

Grant, Natalie, Cassandra and I took the Flex into town tonight to look for some good eats. After about 32 wrong turns, (which allowed us to see the lovely scenery of downtown Saskatoon) we came to "Finn's Irish Pub" and enjoyed some dry ribs and burgers.

4. Pack. A lot.

After being in Saskatoon for four days, we depart tomorrow morning for Edmonton, the next stop on our national tour. Despite not having seen or heard any hurricanes during our stay here, I swear that one came through our room. I'm not really sure how else all this STUFF could have gotten on the floor.

5. End the night in the company of Family channel celebrities

This TV from 1999 doesn't have many channels, but Family is being transmitted loud and clear. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody just finished and now Hannah Montana is serenading me with her southern charm.

Oh yes. Saskatoon, you've been good to us.

See you in Edmonton!
