Description

The Maple Lodge Farms Special Event Team is taking a little road trip this summer...make that a BIG road trip...about 7,000 kilometres wide of a road trip to be exact. From July 4 to August 3 2010, Grant, Kim, Cassandra, Natalie, Mike and Josh - 6 wicked young people from the GTA - will be hitting all the major cities across Canada, hosting free BBQs at grocery stores and head offices that Maple Lodge is in partnerships with. Traveling in a 70 foot tractor trailer from hotel to hotel, they're on a mission to get the nation hooked on chicken. So stop by this blog daily to see where they are, what they're up to, and maybe YOU will start craving an Ultimate Chicken Dog too.

Peace G-Town, Hello Canada

'Tis 10:53 p.m. and this post is coming to you live from room 301 inside the Quality Inn in Sault Ste. Marie - stop UNO of the Great Canadian Chicken Expedition, Maple Lodge style. The town itself is not very epic, but we just watched a sweet fireworks show from our hotel window. It was pretty bomb, if you will. AHA. Ha.

After waking up at about 4:30 a.m. THIS morning - hard to believe that was today - we all met at the lodge for 6 a.m. to start our venture out west. The drive here took about nine hours and featured a few stops at places like "Oscar's Restaurant", a small family-owned lookin' place complete with retro wallpaper, and a town called "Massey" with a population of literally 500 people.

Along the way, there were plenty of Timbits and Dane Cook entertainment in the truck. And sleeping.

And lots of lakes and rocks out the window.

And vegetation.

And the musical stylings of Grant Russell.

For the next three days we'll be on the road, on average for about ten hours per day. We'll be sleeping in Thunder Bay tomorrow, followed by Winnipeg, and then our first event is at a grocery store in Saskatoon on Thursday...but, really? Saskatchewan? By Thursday?

That was a pretty wicked part about today, realizing that we're really doing this!

We're driving across the country, seeing all the major cities in Canada in five weeks. When we checked into our hotel tonight, it hit me that we're on the road for a whole MONTH. For 31-something days, we'll be pulling our suitcases out of the truck and into different hotel rooms, all the way to Victoria BC and back! Adventures to come I say!

At dinner tonight, we all clinked our glasses and said cheers "to the Sault!"...soon that will be 15 cities behind us. Bring it on.

Josh, Cassandra and Mike are chillin' with youtube videos on the laptop. Grant is at the casino down the road. Natalie's gone to bed. And myself, although I've napped about seven times today, am going to follow her lead and bid thee goodnight.

Day 1 = finnito.

P.S. - Kimbo Slice is on the news right now. I partially thank him for my rising fame.
