Description

The Maple Lodge Farms Special Event Team is taking a little road trip this summer...make that a BIG road trip...about 7,000 kilometres wide of a road trip to be exact. From July 4 to August 3 2010, Grant, Kim, Cassandra, Natalie, Mike and Josh - 6 wicked young people from the GTA - will be hitting all the major cities across Canada, hosting free BBQs at grocery stores and head offices that Maple Lodge is in partnerships with. Traveling in a 70 foot tractor trailer from hotel to hotel, they're on a mission to get the nation hooked on chicken. So stop by this blog daily to see where they are, what they're up to, and maybe YOU will start craving an Ultimate Chicken Dog too.

Search for stamps and McMuffins

- sums up the morning of DAY TWO of this road trip.

That, and our first promotion op. WOO.

Before Cassandra and I went on a search for a post office, we dropped off our 837 suitcases, purses, etc. at the truck. As we were doing so, a man approached us and commented on the trailer. This is pretty much how the conversation went down:

"Pretty nice truck you guys got!"

"Yep! We're from Maple Lodge Farms in Brampton. We're the special events team."

"Oh, very nice! Where are you taking this thing?"

"All the way out to B.C! We're doing a cross-Canada tour so we'll be stopping at a lot of grocery stores and head offices to promote Maple Lodge products."

"Cool, cool. Well, good luck with it and have fun!"

"Thanks! Buy some Ultimate chicken dogs!"

"...chicken dogs?!"

"...YES!"

"If a hot dog isn't filled with CRAP then I don't want it."

Man walks away. End conversation.

Well! Unfortunately we didn't have an Ultimate hot dog hot off the grill at the ready, because of course, if this man were to sample it, he would immediately fall in love with its illustrious flavour and juicy demeanor. But, alas, you can't win 'em all.

We're off to Thunder Bay and the priority right now is to find a half-decent radio station. Grant's currently dancing in the driver's seat to a jamaican tune and the GPS is saying we've got ten hours and 30 minutes to go. It could be a long day.

See you in 700 kilometres!
